Class 9 English – Beehive – Chapter 1 

In the first chapter of Beehive, you will find a story named The Fun They Had by Isaac Asimov and a poem named The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost. The story is about the future, and the children of that time are very tech-savvy.

Computer plays a major role in their lives. They live in a virtual world, and robots or remote-controlled machines do all their works. NCERT Solution Class 9 English has described the contrast of the future and present time. In this story, the author shows that the children of the future learn about us or the present time and imagining how fun life is when works are done manually, and real school buildings existed. 

In the poem, the poet is on a fork on the road, and he had chosen one for the journey. During his journey, the poet thought to come back and visit the other path to see what is there. At the same time, he also thought that he would never take that path as he had already travelled the other one and aware of the path.  

In the exercise, you will find short and long questions, fill-up with adverbs. You can learn the usages of unless and if not. You will develop the knowledge of formal letter writing too. There are group work and projects, as well.

Class 9 English – Beehive – Chapter 2

In the second chapter of this book, you will find something different. You will read the extracts from 2 biographies in the prose segment, and it is jointly named The Sound of Music. In the first part, there is Evelyn Glennie Listens to Sound without Hearing It, and then there is The Shehnai of Bismillah Khan. By reading both, you will understand that determination and hard works have no alternatives.

Internal and external difficulties could not prevent Evelyn Glennie and Bismillah Khan from achieving recognition in the field of music. Giving up is wrong, and NCERT Solution of Class 9 English makes it clear in relation to the text. Similarly, any ordinary people can achieve success if he or she has enough determination and willpower. 

In the poem segment of chapter 2, you have Wind written by Subramania Bharati. This poem is a description of the power of the wind.

Class 9 English – Beehive – Chapter 3 

In chapter 3, you will find The Little Girl by Katherine Mansfield, and in this story, the author shows how the perception of a little girl changed about her father. She was scared of her father, and a specific incident intensifies her fear. Later a different incident made her realize that in the world, she is most safe and secure when she is with her father. Next to this story, there is Rain on the Roof – a poem written by Coates Kinney where the poet recalls sweet and bitter memories and relates them to rain.

Class 9 English – Beehive – Chapter 4 

Chapter 4 begins with A Truly Beautiful Mind, and it is a series of ordinary and not-so-genius factors about the genius Nobel laureate Albert Einstein. Class 9 English NCERT Solutions highlights the other sides of this genius to which no one ever paid attention. It is an attempt to show that Einstein is also an ordinary person like all of us. 

In the poem section, you will read a masterpiece named The Lake Isle of Innisfree by W. B. Yeats. This poem shows the poet’s urge to go to Innisfree to lead a peaceful life in solitary.  Though it is the imagination about life in Innisfree, it is clear from the poem that the poet is much aware of the details. 

In the exercise, there are arranging the sentences in chronological order, question-answers, vocabulary enhancing activities, participle clauses, and report writing. 

Class 9 English – Beehive – Chapter 5 

In this chapter, you will go through a humorous prose named The Snake and the Mirror by Vaikom Muhammad Basheer. This story is about self-discovery or about knowing their unknown side. By using sarcastic ways, the author said that during the crisis, we realize our hidden qualities. It is a complex text, and it has many activities in the exercise, but NCERT Solution Class 9 English makes this task easier for you. 

This chapter will end with A Legend of the Northland, a poem by Phoebe Cary. This poem is a ballad about Saint Peter and a lady who angered him. The lady realized that anything seems too small when we offer that to ourselves. But that same thing seems too large when it comes to offering it someone else. Class 9 English – Beehive – Chapter 6 

In the prose part Chapter 6 of this book, you will get My Childhood. It is an extract from the autobiography of the former president of India, Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam. In the entire story, the harmony and tradition of India are at the focus. India is a country where anyone can find harmony within diversity, and NCERT Solution for Class 9th English denotes this in simpler words. The author had experienced harmony and wrote about that in this story. Here you will learn about his simple lifestyle since childhood, and he is still remembered for that simplicity.

Chapter 7 starts with Packing – a hilarious comedy by Jerome K. Jerome, and this story is followed by a poem named The Duck and the Kangaroo by Edward Lear. The story focuses on the topsy-turvy situation faced by the author and his two companions. This story is about the mess and the excuses given by the creator of the mess to tackle the situation very lightly. 

The poem takes the help of humour and shows how people are unhappy with their lives through the duck. They are ready to agree with any condition to come out of their boring lives. This chapter begins with the extracts from the biographies of Santosh Yadav, and Maria Sharapova in the prose section with the title Reach For The Top. You will learn about the struggle of Santosh Yadav – the first female climber in the world to climb Mount Everest twice from the first part. In the next part, you will find the struggle and zeal of Maria Sharapova to become successful. Both extracts are very motivating, and the purpose of these two texts is to create the passion or enthusiasm in readers so that they never accept the failure easily.

Class 9 English – Beehive – Chapter 9 

This chapter begins with The Bond of Love by Kenneth Anderson, and this story holds an extraordinary bond between a human and a non-human being. It may sound uninteresting, and a simple story of a human and his/her pet, but this story holds the bond between a human being and a sloth bear.

Here you will also find how much humane these non-human beings can be. Through Class 9th English, you can understand the beautiful bond between a human being and the sloth bear, which is not a domestic animal, but something interesting happened that made it a pet. 

Next to this story, you will read The Snake Trying – a poem written by W. W. E. Ross. In this poem, the poet tries to show that some snakes are not poisonous, so we may not try to kill it as soon as we see it. We need to learn that snake bites to protect itself from others and self-protection is like a right.

Class 9 English – Beehive – Chapter 10

Chapter 10 starts with an extract of the travelogue named Heaven Lake written by Vikram Seth, and this extract is named after the place Kathmandu. Here you will get the life-like description by the author during his travel to the Himalayas. You can even visualize everything written here and feel what the author felt during that time. 

In the poem section of this chapter, here is A Slumber Did My Spirit Seal by William Wordsworth. It is a Lucy Poem and, and it is also dedicated to his beloved alike other Lucy Poems. The poet, in a trance, first refused to understand that she could die. But in the second stanza, the poet understood that she was no more. Due to the mischievousness of Toto, he could not be transferred in the cage with other animals as Toto may harm them. When grandfather took Toto to Saharanpur, he scared the ticket collector. Later, Toto got a place in the stable with the family of a donkey.

Class 9 English – Moments – Iswaran the Storyteller

Iswaran the Storyteller is a story by R. K. Laxman, and Iswaran is the protagonist here who had mastered the art of storytelling by changing voices. In NCERT Solutions for Class 9th English, you can learn about the techniques used by Iswaran during story-telling. Mahendra is the narrator of this story, and Ishwaran worked as a cook for Mahendra. Mahendra was also a listener to the stories of Ishwaran.  One day Ishwaran narrated a thrilling story to Mahendra, and this thrill drove both Mahendra and Ishwaran away from the house. In the Kingdom of Fools is written by A.K. Ramanujan, and it holds the story about powerful people who misuse their power in foolish ways. This story is about a city of stupid people who are governed by stupid laws. One day a Guru and his disciple visited the city, and they were shocked by the lifestyle of the people. It was the city where a foolish king and his minister made the strange rules. After an incident, it was decided to execute the disciple. But using some tricks, the Guru planned to execute the king and the minister as they created the foolish rules, and they can punish anyone who disobeys these foolish rules. The Guru realized that the foolishness needs to be uprooted, and he planned to finish the king with a smart idea which NCERT English Solution for Class 9 describes in simple words. Class 9 English – Moments – The Happy Prince

The Happy Prince is a story by Oscar Wilde, and it is a story of a statue of Happy Prince. A swallow discovered that the prince is crying. The prince told the swallow that as a prince, he had seen suffering, and now, as a statue, he is still watching people’s suffering. This story of Anton Chekov describes a beggar named Lushkoff, who was very comfortable in his profession of begging. Sergei, an advocate, offered him works, and he was willing to pay the beggar accordingly, but the beggar was unwilling to work.
